We laughed. We cried. We prayed. But most of all, we shared our stories. One of the greatest gifts in this life.
Tracy is the mom of one of my seniors and she allowed me to spend an afternoon with her, listen to her story of her battle with cancer, and let me document her journey. But this wasn’t just a photoshoot. I let Tracy know that it would require her to open her heart and be vulnerable, and she was ready to do so.
This was a spiritual experience for both of us and this first photo captures the essence of that. At one point, I told Tracy I wanted her to place her hands on her heart, close her eyes, and have a conversation with God. This was an experience I’ll never forget. Thank you so much Tracy for your heart, your honesty, and your story.
“Ever wish weddings came with a user manual? I know I sure did when my wife and I were planning ours 5 years ago. Wedding's are funny in that there's so much pressure and expectation for this monumental day to be perfect and run smoothly, and yet, we get one chance to get it right (often without prior experience or knowledge of how to make that happen).”
One of my favorite moments in every session is the response to the first thing I tell everyone I've shot with since day 1: "You don't have to think AT ALL on this shoot. I will guide you on where to look, what to do, what expression to make, where to put your hands, EVERYTHING. If I see any loose hairs, wardrobe malfunction, ANYTHING, I will fix it all for you. I want everyone I shoot with to have fun and people can only do that if they don't have to think so LET'S HAVE SOME FUN!"
